Located in the remote and beautiful Hinako Islands of North Sumatra, Asu Paradise, provides easy access to two world-class waves, Asu and Bawa, as well as five other secret waves. With fewer visitors than the Mentawais, the Hinako Islands guarantee uncrowded waves of superior caliber. Our land-based resort is more comfortable than a boat charter and even more fun!

 

THE HINAKO ISLAND

The Hinako Islands are located approximately 115 miles off the west coast of Sumatra, seven miles off the coast of the island of Nias (famous for the perfect right-hander at Lagundri Bay). The eight reef covered islands in the chain pick up open swells from the Indian Ocean during the surf season from April to October and favorable winds provide loads of surf potential. Although access is quite inproved (airplanes and roads), distance from the mainland still makes this area one of surfing's last frontiers.
